Have you ever been told to “just get over it”?

Or maybe you’ve said it yourself, hoping to help, only to watch someone grow quiet or pull away.

Stop Telling Me to Get Over It is a compassionate and practical guide for Christians who want to respond to emotional pain the way Jesus did: with empathy, not easy answers.

Through Scripture and real-life examples, it reveals how true faith doesn’t ignore suffering. It walks through it with grace, honesty, and the presence of Christ.

Inside, you’ll discover:

  • What to say (and not say) when someone is hurting
  • How to avoid common spiritual clichés that cause more harm than healing
  • Biblical principles for listening, supporting, and walking with others through pain
  • How to reflect Christ’s compassion and truth in real-life conversations

Well thought out, well presented, and filled with biblical truth.

A book that’s both biblically grounded and deeply pastoral. (But not TOO heavy where the average layperson couldn’t digest it.) It speaks to a real need in the body of Christ today.

About the Author

Pete Premenko is a leadership coach, author, and former associate pastor who helps Christians live out the practical application of God’s Word in everyday life. As founder and president of Phronesis Group LLC, a leadership development firm built on the Greek concept of practical wisdom, Pete has spent more than thirty years helping individuals and teams grow in character, purpose, and effectiveness across business, ministry, and community settings.

After attending Bible school in the early ’90s, Pete felt God’s call to serve in the marketplace where he built a career leading learning and talent development for organizations including FedEx Kinko’s, Brinker International, and Mindbody. He and his wife, Tara, have long served in children’s ministry and small-group leadership at their local church in Longmont, Colorado, and Pete has also served as associate pastor in two congregations.

In 2022, Pete and Tara founded Premenko Ministries, whose mission is to “teach the practical application of the Word of God in our everyday lives.” His writing reflects that same purpose, inviting readers to experience God’s grace in real and transformative ways, where faith meets emotion, and hope finds its way home.
